About Khandelwal Sweets – Food & Beverages in Ajmer
Nala Bazar is always a bit crowded, and our shop on Nasirabad Road is right in the middle of all that noise and movement. Being here means we see a lot of different people every single day. We start the fire early to get the milk boiling down for the sweets. It takes a long time and someone always has to be watching it so it doesn’t burn. We’ve been doing this for a while, so we have a rhythm down. The namkeen gets made in big piles because it sells out quite fast during the festival seasons. We don't have fancy displays, just the glass cases showing what we made that morning. If you come by in the afternoon, you’ll probably see us sitting on the stools during a quiet gap, just waiting for the evening rush. Nasirabad Road gets really packed when the offices close. That’s when we have to work fast to keep up with the orders. Sometimes the shop feels a bit small when five or six people are all trying to get served at once. We just do our best to get to everyone. It’s a local business, nothing more. We know most of our customers by name, or at least we know what they usually buy. It’s nice to have that connection with the neighborhood. We just keep the floor swept and the sweets ready for whoever needs a little snack on their way home.
