Kachawa General Store is tucked into Choudhary Market on Gaddi Maliyan Road. It’s a local market, so it feels very traditional. We have been here serving the neighborhood for quite some time. The shop isn't massive, but we make use of every inch. Gaddi Maliyan Road is usually crowded with pedestrians and carts. I usually start my day by cleaning the front area and arranging the fresh stock. We carry things like oil, flour, soaps, and school supplies for the kids. It’s a family-run operation. Sometimes my brother takes over when I have to go to the main market to buy supplies. We don't have a lot of fancy equipment. We use old-fashioned scales for some of the bulk items. People in Choudhary Market are friendly, and we all know each other. It’s the kind of place where you can leave your bag for a minute and nobody will touch it. We aren't trying to be the biggest store in town. We just want to make sure people on Gaddi Maliyan Road have what they need for their kitchens. The walls could use a new coat of paint, but the shelves are full, and that is what matters. We just take it one day at a time, making sure the local families are taken care of. It’s a steady, quiet life in the market. We don't need much more than that. Gaddi Maliyan Road is home to us.
