Janta Sweets & Namkeen

We have been sitting here on Foy Sagar Road in Vijay Nagar for quite some time now. It’s a busy spot and we see a lot of the same faces every morning. Most days start pretty early because we have to get the pans ready and start making the fresh batches of namkeen. The smell of frying usually fills up the front of the shop by seven. People stop their scooters on the way to work to pick up a packet of something salty or maybe a few pieces of sweets for the office. We don't have a big team, just a few of us making sure the trays aren't empty. Sometimes the road outside gets really loud with the traffic, but inside we just keep busy with the sugar syrup and the flour. It’s not a fancy place, just a regular shop where you can get what you need without a fuss. We try to keep things simple. If someone wants a specific sweet, we tell them if it’s fresh or if it will take another hour. That’s just how it works here. The evening gets even busier when families come out for a walk in Vijay Nagar. We end up packing a lot of boxes then. It’s a lot of standing around and talking to neighbors while weighing out the snacks. We like being part of this corner of the city and doing things the way we always have.
