About Hotchand Parsumal Gajak Revdi Bhandar – Food & Beverages in Ajmer
If you walk down Station Road near Parao, you’ll find us easily. Hotchand Parsumal Gajak Revdi Bhandar has been a part of this street for a long time. The smell of roasted sesame and jaggery usually lets people know they’re close. It gets really crowded during the winter months because that’s when everyone wants gajak and revdi. We spend a lot of time in the back making these things. It's hot work, standing over the big pots, but it's what we know. The station is right there, so we get a lot of people who are just passing through town. They want to take a little bit of something local back home with them on the train. We wrap things up in paper bags mostly. It’s not like those big modern shops where everything is in plastic and looks the same. Our revdi might be slightly different sizes sometimes because it’s made by hand, not a machine. My uncle used to say that's how you know it’s real. The floor is always a bit sticky from the sugar, no matter how much we sweep it. We don't have a website or anything. People just come by because they’ve been coming here since they were children. It’s just a small shop on Station Road with a lot of history in the walls. Sometimes we run out of the popular stuff by evening, so people learn to come early.
