I have been running Haji Sweet Mart here in Nala Bazar for a long time now. My father started this place, and I just kept it going because it’s what I know. The shop is located in a narrow part of the bazar where people are always walking by. It’s a noisy spot, but we like the energy. We have a small kitchen in the back where we do all the cooking and frying. It’s not a modern kitchen by any means, but it gets the job done. We don't use any fancy gadgets, just basic tools and old iron pots. Most days, I am at the counter while my helpers work in the back. We don't have a menu on the wall; people just look at what we have in the glass case. If it’s there, it’s fresh. If it’s gone, they wait for the next batch. We don't do any delivery or anything like that. If you want something, you have to come down to Nala Bazar and get it yourself. The building is quite old and has some cracks in the plaster, but it’s home to us. We know all the other shopkeepers around here, and we often share tea in the afternoons when things quiet down. It’s a basic life, but we are satisfied with how things are. We don't try to be anything more than a local sweet shop. That is it.
