Garib Nawaz Sweets

Being at Garib Nawaz Sweets in Nala Bazar means being part of a very busy community. The bazaar is always moving, and we are right in the middle of it. Our shop is quite simple. We don't have a lot of extra space, so we have to be organized with how we stack the sweets and where we keep the supplies. The smell of frying and sugar is always in the air here. We start the day by cleaning everything down and then we get to the actual making of the food. It’s a lot of repetitive movement, but we don't mind it. It’s how things get done. We aren't a big company with many branches; we are just this one shop in Nala Bazar. People know us for being consistent. We don't change how we do things just to be trendy or follow what others are doing. The street outside can be a mess sometimes with the rain or the crowds, but inside, we keep to our own routine. We serve whoever walks in, whether they want a single piece or a whole kilogram. Our counters are usually full by mid-morning. We don't use any fancy language to describe what we do here. It’s just sweets, made the way we’ve always made them. We stay until late, usually until the other shops nearby start pulling down their shutters for the night. It’s a tired kind of feeling at the end, but it is good work.
