Deepak General Store

Deepak General Store is located over at Madar Gate, specifically in Mehta Market, shop number 5. It is a tight spot but we manage to fit a lot of things inside. Every morning starts with moving some boxes around so there is room for people to walk. This market gets really crowded by noon, so I like to have everything ready before then. We have got most of the daily essentials you would expect from a place like ours. I spend a lot of time counting stock and making sure we haven't run out of the things people ask for the most. The building itself is old, but it holds up well enough. Mehta Market has a lot of energy, and being at Madar Gate means there is always someone passing by. Sometimes I stand out front just to catch a bit of air when it gets too stuffy inside with all the bags and containers piled up. My hands are usually a bit dusty from handling the flour sacks or the cardboard boxes, but that is just part of the job. It is a simple life running a general store here. I know most of the faces that come through the door, even if I do not always remember every name. We just keep doing what we do every day, making sure the shelves are full and the shop is open on time. It feels right being part of this local market.
