Ashish Sweet

Ashish Sweet is located in the middle of Dhan Mandi, which is always a very busy market to be in. The market is full of people buying and selling all sorts of things, and we are right there in the thick of it. We start our work very early, long before the sun comes up, so we can have the sweets ready for the morning customers. There is a lot of milk and sugar and heavy pans involved in what we do. The kitchen in the back is always hot from the stoves, but you get used to the heat after a few years. We don't use any fancy machines; most of what we make is done by hand, the same way it has been done for a long time. During the festive seasons, the shop gets really crowded and we have to work even longer hours to keep up with the demand. It can be quite stressful when everyone is in a hurry, but we just keep going. The floor often gets a bit sticky from the syrup, so we are always cleaning up throughout the day. We don't have a big website or a social media page; people in the mandi know where we are and they just walk in when they want something sweet. It’s a straightforward job, and we take pride in the fact that we do everything ourselves right here in the shop. We just want to get through the day and have everything sold by closing time.
