Agarwal General Store

Agarwal General Store has been at 69 Sadar Bazar for a long time. Nasirabad is a small place, so everyone knows everyone, and we see the same people every week. The shop is filled with all sorts of things, from soaps and detergents to biscuits and cooking supplies. It is a bit cramped inside because I try to fit as much as I can on the wooden shelves. There is usually a bit of dust because of the busy road outside, but we wipe things down when we have a spare minute. I usually sit on a wooden stool near the entrance so I can talk to people walking by. It is not just about selling things; it is about the daily chat too. Sometimes the electricity goes out and we have to use a torch to find what someone wants, which is a bit of a hassle. My family helps out during the festivals when it gets really crowded in the bazaar. We do not have a fancy computer system or anything, just a simple way of doing things that works for us. If someone needs something specific and we do not have it, I try to get it from the distributor the next time they come around. It is a quiet life mostly, just keeping the store running and making sure the neighbors have what they need for their kitchens. Sadar Bazar is a busy spot, but our corner feels like home. I have been behind this counter since I was much younger.
