Umiya Plastic Corporation

Our unit, Umiya Plastic Corporation, is L-161 in the Gidc area of Odhav. We’re right behind the big water tank on Odhav Road, which makes us pretty easy to find if you’re looking for the landmark. It’s a dusty part of the world, especially with all the plastic work going on. The smell of the machines is something you just stop noticing after the first week. We have a small team here. Most of us live nearby, so the commute is just a quick ride. The shop floor is usually a mess of raw materials and finished bits, but we have a system that makes sense to us. It’s not a high-tech lab. It’s a place where things get made. Sometimes a machine breaks down and we spend half the day with grease on our hands trying to fix it. That’s just part of the deal. We eat lunch together most days, usually just bringing stuff from home. The tea guy comes by twice a day and that’s the highlight for most of us. We aren't doing anything fancy, just keeping the production lines going as best we can. The noise is constant, but it’s a productive kind of noise. We like it here because it’s familiar. We know which floorboard creaks and which switch needs a little wiggle to work. It’s just a normal job in a normal part of town. We stay till the last crate is loaded and the lights are out.
