Satguru Kirana Store

We’ve been here at Mandvi Chowk for a good while now. Our shop is right behind the Mehasana Harban Bank in Bahupura. Most days start pretty early because people in Kadi like to get their shopping done before the sun gets too hot. It’s a busy spot, especially with the bank being right there. We keep all the usual stuff, like sacks of rice, different kinds of dals, and the soaps people ask for. Sometimes the delivery trucks block the narrow road and it gets a bit chaotic, but that is just how it is in this part of Mehsana. I usually spend most of my time behind the counter weighing things out for neighbors. The shelves are always getting moved around to make space for new stock that comes in from the distributors. You can see the old sign from the street if you are coming from the main chowk area. It’s not a big fancy place, just a regular kirana store where we know most of the faces that walk in. We see the same people every week, some coming in for just a packet of biscuits or a bag of sugar. The floors get dusty with all the foot traffic from the street, so we are always sweeping. My family has been around this area for years, so we’ve seen the town change a lot. But here in Bahupura, things stay mostly the same. Just a lot of talk about the weather and the prices while we pack up groceries in brown paper bags.
