About Kashmir Emporium For Arts & Crafts – Art & Craft in Ahmedabad
We are tucked away behind Handloom House in the Super Market area on Ashram Road. It’s a good location because everyone knows where Ashram Road is. We’ve been Kashmir Emporium For Arts & Crafts for years now. Our shop isn't very large, but we make use of every inch of wall space for the crafts we have. Being behind Handloom House makes it a bit quieter, which is nice. You don't get all the noise from the main street. Most of the stuff we have comes from artisans we've known a long time. We don't really do the whole modern marketing thing. We just put things out and let people see them. Sometimes the shop feels a bit cluttered, but that’s because we have so many different types of art and craft pieces. We open six days a week. It’s mostly local folks and some people visiting the city who find us. We don’t have fancy uniforms or a front desk. I’m usually just sitting near the back or helping someone look at a specific piece. It’s a simple life running a shop like this. Ashram Road is always moving fast, but inside here, things are a bit slower. We take our time with customers. No rush. Just looking and talking about the work. That’s how we’ve always done it since we moved into the Super Market. It's a bit dusty sometimes but it has a lot of character and history for us.
