Rajendra Provision Stores

Our shop, Rajendra Provision Stores, is located in the Purani Housing Society area near Geeta Mandir Road. It is a relatively quiet pocket in the middle of a very busy part of Ahmedabad. Since Majur Gam is right nearby, we get a lot of workers and local families coming through our doors every day. We mostly sell grains, pulses, and the basic spices that you need for a regular kitchen. The shop isn't very big, but we make use of all the wall space with tall wooden shelves that go all the way to the ceiling. We have had the same customers for over twenty years now, and it is interesting to see their children growing up and coming in to buy things. We don't really have any fancy marketing or signs. We just open the shutters at eight in the morning and stay here until the evening rush is finally over. Sometimes we sit on the front step and talk to the neighbors while we wait for the next person to walk in. The traffic on Geeta Mandir Road can be quite loud during the day, but back here in the housing society, it is usually a bit calmer. We keep our ledger books by hand and use an old calculator to figure out the bills. Everything is very straightforward here. We don't carry any expensive luxury items, just the practical things that people use every day in their homes.
