We are located in Sabarmati, not too far from the Visat Petrol Pump. Everyone knows the petrol pump, so finding Padmavati General Stores is easy. Ahmedabad is getting bigger and busier, but our little corner feels the same. For years, we have been here selling groceries and small household items. Since the shop isn't huge, we use every inch of wall space for shelves. When three or four people are inside at once, it feels a bit cramped. Hearing local news and gossip is the nice part of that. Basics like oil, spices, and snacks are always in stock. During humid weather, the door squeaks, but the sound is familiar. Customers from the apartments nearby often come in for one thing and stay to talk. Fancy packaging isn't something we do. We just put things in a bag and hand them over. Straightforward business is what we like. In the quiet afternoon, I take care of the accounts. May heat in Ahmedabad is tough, but a good ceiling fan keeps things moving. Trying to be useful to the people around Sabarmati is our main goal. We keep the shelves dusted and the floor swept as much as we can. It's a long day but serving the neighborhood feels right to us.
