Shiv Sagar Food Products

Shiv Sagar Food Products is tucked away at Plot No. 177/6 in Phase 1 of the GIDC. It’s a bit of a maze in here sometimes with all the different units, but we are in the C1/11 section. When you walk inside, you can usually tell what we are working on that day because of the smell. We deal with various food items, so cleanliness is the main thing we worry about. Everyone has to wear their head covers and keep their hands scrubbed, which is just the rule here. The machines hum along as they process whatever batch we have going, and there’s always a lot of stainless steel to be wiped down. We have a small team of workers who are quite fast at packing the finished products into bags and boxes. The floor can get a bit slippery if we aren't careful, so we are always mopping up. It’s a lot of repetitive work, weighing things out and checking the seals on the containers, but it’s what we do. We don't have a big marketing department or anything like that. Most of our time is spent just making sure the ingredients are fresh and the machines don't break down in the middle of a run. It’s a noisy place when everything is running, but it feels good when we see the crates filled up and ready for the morning delivery to the local markets.
