Our factory, Mecab Cables Pvt Ltd., is situated at 635-A in Phase-Iv of the Gidc in Vatva. If you’ve ever been to Vatva, you know it’s a massive industrial hub. Our building is right in the thick of it. We spend our days surrounded by huge drums of copper and plastic insulation materials. The machines that spin the cables are pretty loud, so you have to talk over the hum. It’s a dirty job sometimes, especially when we’re moving raw materials around the floor. We have a small office at the front where we keep the records, but the heart of the place is definitely the production line. We don't have any fancy landscaping or a nice lobby. It’s a factory through and through. The sun hits the metal roof in the summer, and it gets quite warm inside, but we’ve got big fans to keep the air moving. Our workers have been with us for a long time, and they know the machines better than anyone. We focus on making sure the wire is thick enough and the coating is right. There’s no room for fancy talk when you’re measuring diameters and checking for breaks. It’s practical work for practical people. We take our lunch breaks together and then get back to the reels. It’s a steady life here in Phase-Iv, and we like the routine of it.
