Mahalaxmi Manufacturers is based in the Khokhawala Building over in Mahedikuva, Shahpur. It’s an area with a lot of narrow streets and old buildings. Our setup is right in the middle of all that local energy. We make various things here, depending on what the orders are for the week. It’s a family-run kind of vibe, even if we aren't all related by blood. We’ve been in the Khokhawala Building for quite a long time. You can often hear the sound of work coming from our windows if you walk by. Shahpur is a place where people are always working hard. We aren't a big factory with thousands of workers. It’s a modest operation. We handle most of the tasks ourselves, from taking orders to packing them up. The space is a bit cramped, but we have a system that works. Sometimes the traffic in Mahedikuva makes it hard to get materials delivered on time. We just deal with it as it comes. We don't have a marketing budget or a fancy logo. We just rely on doing the work and people knowing where to find us. It’s a bit hot in the summer because the building is old, but we have fans going. We enjoy being part of the Shahpur community. It’s a busy life, and there’s always something to do. We just keep our heads down and get the manufacturing done. Most of us have been here for years and we like the routine.
