If you find yourself down Jagannathji Road near Gita Mandir, you’ll likely pass by our place at 1062/N/16 in the Sahakari Lati Bazar Division-I. Maganlal Manilal Sheth is an old name, and we try to work in a way that respects that history without making a big deal of it. The Lati Bazar is always a bit of a maze, filled with trucks and people shouting and the sound of heavy things being moved around. We’ve got our slice of it here, where we handle our supplies and talk to the regulars who have been coming to us for years. The office is small and tucked away, usually piled high with old ledgers and some newer computer stuff that we’re still getting the hang of sometimes. It gets dusty, being so close to the road and the yards, but that’s just the nature of this business. We don't spend money on bright signs or anything; we just keep the doors open and the stock ready. People come in, ask for what they need, we talk about the price for a minute, and then we get it loaded up. It’s a simple rhythm that hasn’t changed much since my father’s time. Sometimes the traffic on Jagannathji Road makes it hard for the lorries to get in, so we have to start very early in the morning before the city really wakes up. It is a long day, but it is what we know.
