Our workplace is tucked away in Aakash Flats 1, right in Ahmedabad. Being at F/14 means we are in a pretty residential spot, but it works for what we do at Kalanjali Crafts And Weaves. We deal with a lot of fabric and handmade items, so things can get a bit messy with threads and scraps everywhere. It’s not a big corporate office with glass walls or anything. It's more like a workshop where we spend our hours looking at patterns and sorting through different weaves. Gujarat has a lot of history with this kind of work, and we are just one small part of it. We started because we liked the craft. There are days when the heat in Ahmedabad makes it tough to work, but we keep the fans going and stay on task. We don’t really do fancy ads. Most people find us because they know someone who knows us. It’s a bit of a squeeze in the flat sometimes when a new shipment comes in. We spend a lot of time checking the quality of the cloth. If a thread is loose, we see it. It's just honest work. We aren't trying to change the world, just trying to make nice things and keep the traditions going in our own small way.
