Jay Jeweller

Our place, Jay Jeweller, is located at 28 Jayanand Society in the Krishnanagar area. If you’re coming from the highway, you’ll see Priya Cinema nearby, which is the easiest way to explain where we are to people who aren't from this part of Ahmedabad. It gets quite loud because of the cinema crowds and the traffic on the highway, but you get used to it after a week or two of being here. The shop isn't very large at all. It’s tucked into the society, so it feels a bit more like a neighborhood spot than those big fancy showrooms you see in the city center. We spend a lot of time cleaning the glass cases because the dust from the road always finds its way in somehow. Ahmedabad is a busy place, and Krishnanagar is no different. We usually open up in the morning and wait for people to drop by. Sometimes it’s busy, sometimes it’s just us sitting and watching the street life go by. We’ve got a few old chairs for anyone who needs to sit down for a minute while they're here. The lighting inside is bright so we can see what we’re doing, but it’s not that expensive kind of decorative lighting. Just regular tubes on the ceiling. We’ve been here long enough that we know most of the other shopkeepers around Jayanand Society. We share news and sometimes have tea together when things are quiet. It’s just a simple life.
