We spend most of our time down at Unit 11 in the Abhi Shree Estate, which is right behind Vepari Maha Mandal near the Ring Road in Odhav. It’s a dusty part of town, but it’s where things get done. Hawk Air Compressors isn't a big flashy place. We have a workshop where we keep our tools and spare parts. Mostly we deal with reciprocating compressors and the occasional screw unit that needs a complete overhaul. People from the nearby industrial units drop by when their machines stop building pressure. We don’t have a fancy reception area or anything, just a few chairs and a desk where we handle the paperwork. The noise of the traffic on the Ring Road is something you just get used to after a few months. Usually it’s just me and a couple of mechanics covered in oil. We take the pumps apart and see why the valves are sticking or if the rings are worn out. Sometimes we have to wait a day or two for a specific gasket to arrive, but we try to keep the common stuff on the shelf. It's honest work. We aren't trying to sell anyone something they don't need. If a machine is too old to fix, we just say so. The heat in the summer makes the shop quite hot, so we start early in the morning to beat the worst of it. That's just how we run things here.
