Hasmukh Stores

Hasmukh Stores is our place over in Ahmedabad. We are situated in the Ratanpole area, specifically near Marchi Pole and Ratan Pole Naka. If you have ever been to Ahmedabad, you know how incredibly narrow and tight these old streets can be. You can barely fit a small rickshaw through some of the lanes around here without hitting a wall. The shop is quite small and it is packed with different items from the floor all the way up to the ceiling. I spend a lot of my day just moving heavy boxes around so I can reach what the customers are asking for. Being so close to Marchi Pole means there is a lot of old history in these walls. The buildings are very old and the stairs inside are quite narrow and steep. It always smells like a mix of spices and old wood around Ratanpole Naka. We open up early because the morning time is the best part of the day before the afternoon heat becomes too much to handle. People come in looking for very specific things for their households. I try to remember everyone’s name but it is hard when you see so many different faces every single day. We don't use any fancy computers for our business; most of the work is still done with a simple pen and a paper notebook. My hands often have ink on them by the time I am finished.
