Hariom Kirana Store

Hariom Kirana Store is right on the Kalol Main Road. If you know where the Radheshyam Bakery is, we are just behind it. We are also directly across from the old Mahendra Mill, which is a big landmark in Kalol. It’s a prime spot because there’s always a lot of activity on the main road. People stop by on their way home from work or while they’re out running errands. We sell all the basic groceries—lentils, rice, spices, tea, and cleaning supplies. The store is usually a bit cluttered because we try to keep as much variety as possible in a limited space. Sometimes it’s hard to find things quickly, but we usually know exactly which pile a particular item is in. The bakery next door always smells good, which is a nice perk of working here. During the summer, it gets quite dusty with the traffic passing by, so we have to spend time cleaning the jars and packets. We’ve got a lot of regular customers who have been coming to us for years. We don’t have any fancy technology, just an old-fashioned way of doing things. Sometimes we run out of change or the electricity goes off, and we just have to manage. It’s a busy life, dealing with wholesalers and serving customers, but it’s what we know. We aren't a big supermarket chain, just a local kirana store trying to provide what the neighborhood needs every day. It’s honest work and keeps us connected to the people in Kalol.
