Our place is at B 1 11 Keshav Park, right on the Judges Bunglows Road in the Satellite area of Ahmedabad. GIAN has been operating out of this bungalow for years. It’s a bit different from a normal office because it feels more like a home. We spend our time looking for grassroots innovations, which basically means we talk to people who have come up with clever ideas but don’t have the money or help to make them bigger. We get all sorts of people coming through the gates at Keshav Park. Some have invented new farming tools, and others have ideas for small machines. Our job is to listen and see how we can help them out. The Satellite area is quite busy and upscale now, but our office stays pretty grounded. We have a small team, and we all sit together around old wooden desks. It’s not about being a big corporation for us. We just like seeing someone’s small idea turn into something real that helps a village or a small town. Ahmedabad is a city of entrepreneurs, so we fit right in. We don’t have a flashy mission statement or anything like that. We just look at the innovations and try to figure out the next steps for them. It’s interesting work that keeps every day looking a little different. We are just here to help people get their ideas off the ground.
