Gujarat Electricity Regulatory Commission

Our office is on the 1st floor of the Neptune Tower. We are right opposite the Nehru Bridge on Ashram Road, which is one of the busiest spots in Ahmedabad. Working here at the Gujarat Electricity Regulatory Commission means we see a lot of people coming in and out every day. The building is a bit older and the elevators can be slow, so many of us just take the stairs. Inside, it is full of metal filing cabinets and stacks of paper. We have desks lined up where people are busy reviewing documents or typing out reports. It gets quite loud with the traffic from Ashram Road coming through the windows. We spend a lot of time listening to hearings or reading through new regulations. It is not an exciting job in the traditional sense, but it is important for how the city runs. We have a small break area where we keep a water cooler and a few chairs. The lighting is that typical office flickering light, and there are posters on the walls about safety and rules. We deal with a lot of legal talk and technical data about power grids. It can be a bit dry, but the staff is friendly and we all know the tea stall downstairs very well. Most of us have been working here for years and we are used to the hum of the city right outside our door.
