We operate out of a few different spots, but you can usually find us around the Wilson Garden area or out towards Manjari. Keeping a nursery going in Ahmedabad means we are always worried about the water and the heat. The sun here can be really tough on the younger saplings, so we spend a lot of our time moving shade nets around. It’s a messy job. Our boots are always caked in that thick Ahmedabad soil. We grow a variety of things, from small flowering plants to bigger trees that people want for their yards. The location at Kawadi Pat is where a lot of the heavy lifting happens. It isn't a manicured park; it’s a working nursery with rows of pots, bags of fertilizer, and piles of compost everywhere. We don’t have a sales team or a marketing department. It’s just a few of us who know how to prune a shrub and when to plant seeds. Sometimes the trucks coming in from the post area get delayed, and we have to wait around to unload the new stock. It’s a slow-paced life, mostly dictated by the seasons and the weather. We see a lot of the same faces coming back every year for their monsoon planting. It’s just about keeping the plants alive and getting them to the people who want them.
