Our spot is in G.I.D.C Phase 4, over in Ahmedabad. Specifically, we’re at 3704/D, tucked behind the Trikampura Nirma area in Daskroi. If you know the G.I.D.C, you know it’s a maze of factories and sheds. It’s a loud, busy place with a lot of heavy machinery going all the time. Being behind Nirma is a good landmark because everyone knows where that is. We work with steel here. It’s a lot of metal clanging and forklifts driving around. The ground is always covered in a bit of grit from all the industrial activity. We don’t have a fancy lobby or anything like that. When you come in, you’re likely to see someone covered in a bit of grease or dust. It’s just the nature of the job. We spend most of our time out on the floor or in the small office area near the front gate. The heat in Ahmedabad can be brutal, especially inside a steel shed, but we’ve got our routine. We drink a lot of water and keep the work moving. It’s not the kind of place you’d come for a tour, but it’s where we get things done. We’ve been part of this industrial zone for a while now. The trucks come and go through the Daskroi roads, and we just keep the steel flowing out to whoever needs it. We close up early on Saturdays to get some rest.
