We’ve been at the New Fruit Market in Ahmedabad for quite a while now. Specifically, you can find us at shop 35/1. It’s a very busy spot, especially in the early morning hours when the big trucks come in from the farms. If you've ever spent time down here, you know how it gets. There is always a lot of shouting, the sound of wooden crates being dragged across the concrete, and people rushing around to get the best produce. We just handle fruits, mostly. That is what we do every single day. Some days the market is slower than others, which gives us a bit of a break, but that is just how the seasonal business works. We spend a huge chunk of our time sorting through the stock to see what looks good and what needs to be moved out quickly. It isn't a fancy office with air conditioning or anything like that. It’s just a regular, dusty place in the market where we keep things moving. Sometimes the heat gets pretty bad under the tin roofs in the afternoon, but we are used to it by now. People stop by all the time, they want to know what came in fresh today, and we just tell them straight. It is straightforward work. Not much to it besides making sure the fruit gets to where it needs to go before it starts going soft on us. We see a lot of the same faces every week, which is a nice part of the job. You get to know the other guys running stalls nearby.
