B J Imitation

We are over on India Colony Road near the Krishnanagar Society in Bapu Nagar. It is a very crowded part of town, so there is always a lot of noise coming from the street outside. At B J Imitation, we deal with all sorts of small jewelry items. You wouldn’t believe how much time we spend untangling thin chains or sorting beads by color. The shop isn't very big, so we use every inch of wall space for displays. Sometimes the lighting isn't great, but we make do with what we have. I usually sit near the front to watch the door. My cousin helps out when it gets busy during the wedding season. Bapu Nagar is a place where everyone seems to be in a hurry. We have these plastic bins stacked up everywhere filled with rings and bangles. It takes a long time to do inventory because everything is so small. We drink a lot of chai throughout the day to keep our energy up. The shelves are a bit crooked because we put them up ourselves years ago. It’s not a corporate showroom, just a place where we work and talk to the locals. We get a lot of regulars who live in the colony behind us. It feels good when someone remembers our names. We just keep things moving, one day at a time, trying to keep the dust off the glass cases and making sure everything looks presentable.
