Sajjan Shoe Lace Works

Sajjan Shoe Lace Works is tucked away in 6/229, Punjabi Gali, right in the middle of Hing Ki Mandi. If you know this part of town, you know it is always busy with people carrying boxes and the constant sound of trade. Our shop isn't anything special to look at, just a place where we get the job done making shoe laces for the local market. Most days start early, getting the machines ready and checking the thread supplies. We have spools of different colors all over the place. Sometimes it gets a bit dusty because of the materials, but that is just how it is in this line of work. We spend a lot of time just making sure the lengths are right and the aglets are clamped on tight. It’s a lot of standing around and watching the machines hum. We’ve been at this spot for a while now. The lane outside is narrow, so it can get pretty cramped when deliveries arrive. We just handle things as they come. It is not like those big corporate factories. It’s just us here in the Gali. Sometimes the power goes out and we have to wait, or we take a break and talk to the neighbors. It’s honest work and we keep ourselves busy. People come in from the market nearby to ask for specific types of laces, and we do what we can. That’s pretty much the daily routine for us here in the shop.
