India Shoe Lace Works

We are based out of Plot No.D-5 in the Site-A industrial area here in Sikandra. The shop is usually pretty loud because the machines for braiding the laces don't really stop once they get going in the morning. It’s a lot of thread everywhere, mostly cotton and polyester. We spend most of our time just watching the spools to make sure nothing gets tangled up or snaps mid-run. It's not fancy work. Our hands usually have some dye on them by lunch. The floor is concrete and gets dusty fast, but that is just how an industrial unit goes. We've got a few guys who have worked here for years. They know the rhythm of the machines better than I do. Most of the orders we get are for standard lengths, black or white, but sometimes we get a request for something bright or a different thickness. Packing is the last part of the day. We put them in bags and box them up for whoever is picking them up. The traffic around Sikandra can be a headache for the trucks, so we try to get everything ready early. It’s just us doing what we know how to do, day in and day out. Sometimes the power goes out and everything goes quiet for a bit, which is actually kind of nice for a change, but then we just wait for it to come back so we can finish the batch. Then we start the whole process over.
