Our place is known as Bhagwati Ghee Kothi, and it is located at No. 6/298 in the Belanganj area, right at Tikonia. This building has been in the family for a long time, and you can tell by the way the walls look and the old style of the doors. Bhagwat Prasad Prakash Chand Agarwal is the name on the papers, but most locals just know us by the spot we occupy. The smell of ghee is something you get used to very quickly when you work here. It hangs in the air all day. We deal with a lot of regular customers who have been coming to this kothi since they were children. The streets in Belanganj are narrow and always crowded with rickshaws and delivery carts, so getting things in and out can be a bit of a struggle sometimes. We don’t have a modern office setup with computers everywhere. Most of our records are still kept in big ledgers that we write in by hand. It’s a slow process, but it’s reliable. During the festival seasons, the place gets incredibly hectic and we barely have time to sit down for lunch. The rest of the year is more steady. We just focus on keeping the stock fresh and making sure the jars are sealed right. It’s an old-fashioned way to run things, but it has worked for us for decades. We don't change much because we like the way things have always been done in this family business.
