Scorpio Tiles Pvt. Ltd. is situated at 15/571 on K.P. Road. It’s a pretty busy stretch of road, and we see a lot of people passing by every day. The building isn’t new, and we’ve had to patch up the roof a few times after the heavy rains. Inside, the main thing you’ll see are stacks and stacks of tiles. They are heavy, and moving them is a workout that none of us really needs but we get anyway. We have a small display area, but it’s usually covered in a bit of grit from the warehouse side. The light in the office is a bit flickery, but we haven't found the time to fix the ballast yet. We deal with all sorts of people, from contractors to homeowners who can't decide on a color. We don't have a fancy sales pitch; we just show them what’s in the crates and tell them the price. Sometimes the deliveries are late because the truck broke down, and we have to spend the morning apologizing on the phone. It’s just the way things go in this business. We don’t have any grand visions or anything like that. We just want to make sure the inventory is right and that we don’t break too many tiles while loading the vans. It’s a living, and it keeps us out of trouble.
