Our place, SAHAYOG HORTICA PVT. LTD., is out in Village-Samukpota on Bakrahat Road. It is about 9 kilometers away from Thakurpukur Bazar, so it feels quite rural compared to the city. We have a lot of space here for the plants and the nursery work we do. Most days involve being outside in the sun, checking on the saplings and making sure the soil is just right. It is a lot of manual labor, digging and moving pots around the fields. The road to get here can be a bit bumpy, but it is a nice change from the crowded parts of the district. We do not have a polished office; it is more of a shed where we keep the tools and the records. The local guys from the village help us out with the planting and the heavy lifting. When the monsoon hits, the whole place turns into a bit of a swamp, but the plants love it. We mostly focus on growing things that work well in this climate. It is not a fast-paced business. Things take time to grow, and we just follow the seasons. Sometimes people drive all the way from the bazaar to see what we have. We are just a bunch of people who like working with the earth. It is simple work, but it keeps us busy all year round without much fuss or noise from the city. We just take it day by day and watch things grow.
