Our office for Jaya Sree Shyam Agro Food Productprivate Limited is located on the 5th floor of The Millennium building. If you know AJC Bose Road in Kolkata, you know it is always packed with cars and buses honking all day long. Being up on the 5th floor helps a bit with the noise, but you still feel the energy of the city. We handle a lot of agro-food products from this spot. It is a bit of a contrast being in a modern building like The Millennium while dealing with products that come from the soil and the farms. Usually, the day starts with checking emails and seeing what orders have come in. We have a small team here, and everyone just kind of knows what they need to do. The elevators in this building can be slow during lunch hour when everyone is heading out, so we usually just stay in and have our tiffin at our desks. It’s a clean space, quite different from the dusty fields where the food actually grows, but this is where the business side of things happens. We spend a lot of time on the phone talking to suppliers and making sure things are moving the way they should. It is a lot of coordination and keeping track of spreadsheets. Sometimes the internet acts up or the power fluctuates, which is just standard for Kolkata, but we manage to get the work done eventually.
