Laxminarsimha Flour Mill

The machines at Laxminarsimha Flour Mill start up early in the morning, and the sound is just part of the neighborhood now. We are located at H. No 5-148 in Devaruppula, right in the middle of the village. If you walk by, you’ll likely see a bit of white dust near the door because that’s just what happens when you’re grinding grain all day. We’ve been here in Warangal district for a good while, and most of the locals bring their wheat or chillies to us. It gets quite loud inside when everything is running, so we usually have to shout a bit to hear each other. The floor is always covered in a fine layer of flour, no matter how much we sweep it. It’s a small place, nothing like those giant factories you see in the cities. It’s just a basic mill where we do the work ourselves. We don't have any fancy brochures or a website. People just show up with their bags, wait their turn, and then head home once the grinding is done. Sometimes the power goes out, which is a bit of a headache for the schedule, but we just wait it out like everyone else. It’s a steady kind of life, and we know almost everyone who walks through the door. Being a part of the Devaruppula community is just how it is for us. We just keep the machines oiled and the doors open. It is a humble living but it is ours and we are proud of the work.
