Harilal Chicken Center

I start my day pretty early here in Rangapuram. The sun isn't even fully up when I get to the shop at H. No -2-63. It’s a small place, nothing fancy, but it gets the job done for the people living around here in Kesamudram. Usually, the first thing I do is check the birds and make sure everything is clean enough to start the day. People start dropping by around 7 or 8 in the morning, mostly just neighbors looking for something for their lunch. It gets a bit loud with the traffic outside and the birds making noise, but that’s just how it is. Sometimes the delivery truck is late and I have to wait around, drinking tea from the stall nearby. I’ve been at this spot for a while now. The walls could use a fresh coat of paint, and the floor is always a bit damp from the washing, but it’s a living. I don't really have a big staff, just a couple of us handling the cutting and the weighing. We talk to the regulars about the weather or how the crops are doing this season. It's a simple routine that repeats every single day of the week. By the afternoon, it slows down and I find some time to sit on the plastic stool and watch the bikes go by. It’s not a glamorous job, but the work is steady and people know where to find me if they need something for their Sunday meal.
