Shree Yamuna Trading Company

Shree Yamuna Trading Company is based right in the middle of the New Marketing Yard in Bedi. If you have ever been to a marketing yard, you know it is not a quiet place. From early in the morning, there is the sound of trucks backing up and people shouting out prices. Our spot is at A - 38, and we have been here through many seasons. We mostly deal with trading agricultural goods, so our life revolves around the harvest and what is coming in from the farms. It is a lot of physical work, checking bags and making sure the quality is what we expected. Some days are incredibly long, especially when there is a lot of stock moving through the yard and we have to stay until every last bag is accounted for. We don't use much technology here, just our eyes and years of experience knowing what good produce looks like. The office is just a small room where we sit with some tea and do the accounts on paper mostly. It’s a very traditional way of doing business, but it works for us and the people we deal with. We know most of the other traders around here, and it feels like a big community even when things get competitive. It's a simple life of buying and selling what the land provides for the markets.
