Sri Rama General Kiranam

The shop is right here in Lashker Bajar at House Number 5-8-39. It’s a typical kiranam store, so we have a bit of everything crammed onto the shelves from floor to ceiling. Most mornings start very early with the milk delivery and then it’s just one customer after another until late in the evening. We stock rice, pulses, soaps, and all the usual things people need for their daily kitchens. It gets a bit cramped when we get a fresh shipment of heavy grain bags, and we often have to stack them near the entrance for a while. The neighbors come by for their daily needs, and we know most of them and their families by name. It’s a lot of weighing out bags and making sure the change is exactly right. Sometimes the electricity goes out and we have to use the old torches, but that’s just a part of life here. We don’t have fancy glass displays or air conditioning. It’s just a regular shop where people get their groceries and have a quick chat. Some days are slow and we just sit on the stool and watch the street, and other times everyone seems to come at once. We try to keep the basics always in stock so no one has to leave empty-handed. It’s a simple life running a store like this. We’ve been here a long time and the shop hasn't really changed much.
