Akuhaito Agro Farmers Producer Company Limited is based over in Lokobomi Village, near Aizuto in the Zunheboto district. Ghozheli is the one we go to when we need to check on the paperwork at his place. We are a group of folks from this part of Nagaland who just want to keep our farming going. It’s hard work out here in the hills, and sometimes it feels like we’re a long way from anywhere. We started this company because it’s better to be a group when you’re trying to buy supplies or sell what you’ve grown. We don't have any fancy mission statements or anything like that. We just focus on the soil and the crops we have. Some days are better than others, especially when the weather stays nice. We don't have a big staff, just us and our families helping out. You won't find us in suits or sitting in air-conditioned rooms. Usually, we’re covered in dirt or busy in the shed. We just talk like regular people because that’s who we are. It’s not always organized perfectly, but we manage to get the work done. It’s simple, honest work and we just take it as it comes. There is always something to do so we stay busy all year round and don't have much time for distractions.
