Our group, Cnn Ibn Group News, is based in Umarkhed, Maharashtra, with the pincode 445206. It’s not exactly the center of the world, but for us, it’s where everything happens. We work on news and information, so we are always busy trying to keep up with what’s going on. Being in Umarkhed gives us a local perspective that you don’t always get in the bigger cities. Our office is a simple place. We have some desks, a few old computers, and a lot of notebooks filled with scribbles. It’s not the kind of place you’d see on a movie set about a news station. It’s much more basic than that. We spend a lot of our time talking to people in the community and trying to figure out what the real stories are. Sometimes we have to travel around the 445206 area to see things for ourselves. The office can be a bit hot in the summer, and we usually have a fan going in every corner. We don’t have a big corporate structure or anything like that. It’s just a small team of us. We share the work and we share the snacks that someone brings in. Dealing with news means there isn't really a set schedule. Something can happen at any time, and we have to be ready. It’s a bit tiring sometimes, but it’s what we do. We like being part of the Maharashtra landscape and working from our spot in Umarkhed. It’s real work and it feels important to us.
