We are located on CM Road in Yamuna Nagar, right at Nand Kishor’s place. It’s a well-known spot in this part of town, so most people don’t have any trouble finding us. Our work here as a Nidhi company is pretty basic. We help the local people with their savings. It’s a small office, nothing too fancy. We have some wooden desks and some files stacked up. We spend most of our day talking to people who come in from the surrounding streets. Some are workers from the nearby industries, others are housewives looking to save a little extra. We know many of them by name. The atmosphere on CM Road is usually quite busy, with bikes and rickshaws going past all day long. Inside, we try to keep things orderly. We use ledgers to keep track of everything, along with the computer. It’s a mix of old and new ways of doing things. We don't have any big corporate goals; we just want to make sure the people who trust us with their money are looked after. Sometimes we share a cup of tea with the regulars while we fill out the forms. It’s a simple life and a simple business. We focus on the daily grind and making sure the math adds up. Being here in Yamuna Nagar feels right, as we’re right in the middle of the community we serve. We just keep our heads down and do our jobs every day.
