Jai Dayal Plywood is out on Khajuri Road in the Naharpur area. If you know the road, you know it’s mostly industrial stuff out here. Our place is basically a big warehouse full of plywood and boards. It smells like sawdust all the time, which you get used to after a few days. We handle different types of ply, blockboards, and flush doors. It’s heavy work, moving these sheets around. We don’t have a fancy front office with air conditioning or anything like that. It’s just a desk in the corner of the shed where we keep the books. Most of our visitors are local carpenters or people building houses nearby. The trucks come in with new loads pretty often, and that’s always a bit of a headache to get them parked right on the narrow road. We’ve been at this location for a while now. When it rains, the sound on the tin roof is so loud we can hardly hear each other talk. We just focus on getting the right thickness and grade for whoever is asking. We don’t use any big marketing tricks. The wood is just sitting there in stacks. We spend a lot of time checking for termites and making sure everything stays dry. It’s a simple business, really. We open up early and stay until the last delivery is sorted. It’s just how things are here in Naharpur.
