Bishan Dass Nayar & Sons

We have been running this shop near Thana Sadar on Saharanpur Road for a long time. It is a family thing, passed down through the years, so there is a lot of history in these walls. The location is easy to find because everyone knows the police station nearby. We sell all sorts of items, mostly stuff that people in the local area need for their daily work or homes. The shelves are packed tight and sometimes it takes a minute to find exactly what you are looking for. It is a bit old-fashioned here, but that is how we like it. We know our customers by name and they know us. Saharanpur Road is always busy with traffic and people walking by. We don't use a lot of fancy technology for our records; a lot of it is still done on paper. It is a bit dusty sometimes because of the road, but we try to keep it tidy. My sons are involved now too, so it keeps the tradition going. We don't have any big slogans or goals other than just being here for the community. Sometimes it gets a bit chaotic when too many people come in at once, but we manage. We aren't trying to be the biggest shop in the world, just a decent one where you can get a fair deal. That is how it has always been for us Nayars.
