District Surgeon

We are based over at the government hospital. Being the district surgeon means there's always a lot going on here. Most days start early and the hallways get busy pretty fast. It’s a plain building, nothing fancy about it. We just handle the medical work that comes through the doors. People from all over the area show up because this is where the main surgical team sits. Sometimes it’s quiet for an hour, then suddenly it isn't. We don’t have much time for office decor. The floors are old but they get scrubbed every single day. If you look for us, just ask someone where the surgeon's wing is and they will point you the right way. It’s been here for years. We keep things moving as much as we can. It can be a bit noisy with all the people waiting, but that's just how a public hospital works. We deal with whatever cases the day throws at us. Sometimes it’s routine, other times it’s more involved. Most of us have been working in these rooms for a long time. We know where everything is, even if it looks a bit cluttered. It’s just the way the district hospital has always been run. We stay busy and try to get through the list before the sun goes down. You might have to wait a while if it's a Monday. The desks are covered in papers and the phones ring quite a bit. We don't have a fancy reception area. Just some chairs and a desk where we check people in. It works for what we need. We drink our tea in the small staff room when we get a break.
