Our setup is in Koyyalagudem, which is a small place out in Choutuppal. Suma Sri Handlooms And Handicrafts Producer Company Limited is based at H NO 1-17. It’s a very different vibe from the city. Around here, you hear the sound of looms rather than cars. We are a group of producers working together on handlooms and traditional crafts. The building is simple, just stone and brick with plenty of space for the equipment. We don't have fancy marketing teams or shiny brochures. Most of what we do is manual labor. It’s about the thread and the wood and the dye. You can smell the materials as soon as you walk in. We spend the day working the machines or checking the finish on the handicrafts. It’s slow work compared to the big factories. Sometimes it takes days to finish a single piece. We sit on low stools and talk while we work. It’s a peaceful kind of environment, even if the work is tiring on the back and hands. We don't use much technology besides the basics. Most of the knowledge is passed down from the older folks to the younger ones. It’s about keeping the traditions alive in Koyyalagudem. We just want to make things that last. It's a humble way to make a living, but it feels right to us. We just take it one day at a time here in the village.
