Rashmi Cement Ltd. Unit-Iii(Steel & Power Div.)

We spend most of our time here at Unit-III over in Midnapore, mostly dealing with the steel and power side of things for Rashmi Cement. The D-5 spot in Kuikota R.H.E is where the main action happens. It gets quite busy with the trucks coming in and out, especially when the weather in West Bengal is acting up. Some days the humidity is just too much, but we keep the machines running anyway. Being near Aleya Sultana's place helps us find our way if someone gets lost looking for the gate. It’s not a fancy office, just a lot of concrete and metal and people trying to get their shift done. We’ve been at this for a while now. Most of the staff live nearby, so we see each other at the local shops after work too. Sometimes the power fluctuates, which is ironic given what we do here, but that’s just how it is in this part of the country. You get used to the noise of the plant after a few weeks. It becomes like background music. We don’t really do much advertising or anything like that. People know we are here because of the smoke and the towers. We just focus on the daily output and making sure the inventory is sorted. It’s a lot of physical labor and keeping an eye on the gauges. We try to keep things organized, even if it looks a bit messy to an outsider.
