Tea Break

Being out here on the Bhimavaram to Palakollu Bypass means we see a lot of different people every single day. Most are just passing through, driving trucks or cars, and they need a place to stop for a minute. That’s why the name Tea Break made sense to us. We are right on the edge of Palakollu. The dust from the road comes in sometimes when the wind is high, so we’re always wiping down the counters. It’s not a quiet place because of the highway, but it’s a good spot to stretch your legs. I usually start the first pot before the sun is all the way up because the long-distance drivers are already moving by then. We don't have a big menu or anything. It's just tea and maybe some small things to eat if we have them ready. The bypass gets really busy during certain times of the year, especially with the local trade moving back and forth. We just stay here and keep the stove going. It’s honest work and it keeps us busy. Sometimes locals from town come out this way too just for a change of scenery. We don’t really do any advertising. People just see the shop and pull over when they’re tired of driving. It’s a simple setup we’ve got here in Palakollu. We just try to keep things steady and serve whoever walks in.
