Our place is situated right at the Pathapattiseema Godavari Revu Boat Point. Being right on the edge of the Godavari river means our day starts and ends with the sound of water. We are mostly outdoors, checking on the boats and making sure the paths to the guest rooms are clear of debris. It is a very humid environment, especially when the sun is high, and you can feel the moisture in everything from the bedsheets to the curtains. We have simple rooms that provide the basics for people who want to see the river and the hills. There is a lot of maintenance involved in keeping a place like this running, especially with the seasonal rains and the river levels rising and falling. We spend a lot of time talking to the boatmen and coordinating trips up the river. The kitchen is always busy with local dishes, and the smell of woodsmoke is usually in the air. We don't have many modern luxuries here, but we have plenty of shade and a great view of the water. It is a quiet life compared to the city, though it can get hectic when a large group of tourists arrives at the dock. We do our own repairs and keep the place tidy as best as we can. Most of us grew up near the river, so we know its moods and how to work around them. It is just a simple resort for people who like nature.
