Garo Hills Border Trade And Chamber Of Commerce

Our office is located over at Rikman Garey Momin’s place in Amani Bari, right around Araimile in Tura. Being in the West Garo Hills means we deal with a lot of the local traffic and the trade that comes through the border areas. It’s a practical sort of place. We don’t have much use for fancy rugs or high-end office chairs. Mostly, it’s just tables covered in ledger books and people coming in to talk about shipments or business in the region. The road outside can get dusty, especially when the trucks are moving, but that’s just part of being here. We spend a lot of our time checking over documents and making sure everyone is on the same page. It’s not a quiet job. There’s usually someone calling out from the next room or a phone ringing. We’ve been part of the Araimile community for quite a while now. Most people around here know where we are if they need to discuss trade matters. We aren't trying to be anything other than a local hub for the traders and businesses in the Garo Hills. It gets hot in the afternoons, so the fans are always going. We keep it simple and focused on the work. There’s always another pile of paperwork waiting once you finish the first one. It keeps us busy from morning until late evening and we don't mind the noise much.
